I'm Ellie, and I am an enthusiastic liberal arts student passionate about STEM and all kinds of environmental science, especially marine biology and conservation.
Over the past few years, I have had many opportunities to learn about various aspects of the marine sciences. Most recently, I spent the fall semester of my junior year studying marine resources with the School for Field Studies in the Turks and Caicos Islands. I took classes in the field (the ocean, in this case) and researched local octopus populations with one of my incredible professors. It was amazing to put all I had learned into practice!
My other research experience includes an independent project on the response of Eastern North Pacific Gray Whales to changing ocean temperatures and a project with Sea Education Association in the Gulf of Maine, among other opportunities.
As I continue my education at Colby College, I strive to constantly explore the world around me, focusing on the environment and how we can slow global warming through the marine sciences.
