I'm Ellie, and I am an enthusiastic liberal arts student passionate about environmental science, especially marine biology and conservation.
Over the past few years, I have had many opportunities to strengthen my expertise within the marine sciences. In the the fall of my senior year, for example, I researched the effects of beaver fecal contamination on water quality in central Maine using techniques such as microbial source tracking and environmental DNA metabarcoding.
Previous research experience also includes studying local octopus populations with one of my professors at the School for Field Studies in the Turks and Caicos, and researching the response of Eastern North Pacific Gray Whales to changing ocean temperatures, among other opportunities.
As I continue my education at Colby College and begin my life post-graduation, I strive to constantly explore the world around me, focusing on environmental conservation and saving the world through the marine sciences.
